Have you noticed
that some of the major corporations
who send you email "offers" take a very long time to
remove you?
For example,
I just unsubscribed from Yahoo offers
and the response I got said that it could take up to
*five days* to remove my email address, and I may get
offers during that period of time.
Excuse me?
How about
linking your unsubscribe script to your
mailing list? Bingo. Instant removal.
What on Earth
could their reasoning be?
Perhaps they
sneakily want to send you those few extra
offers and finally squeeze a dollar out of you.
If they earn
money based on the number of emails sent,
they would *definitely* earn extra money by keeping
you on their lists longer.
Another example
is "double opt out". Simply put, this
is where a company doesn't accept a removal request,
but emails you asking you to *confirm* your removal
request!
Yet another
grubby way to hold you hostage and earn a
few more pennies, or a protection of your privacy?
I know what
I think!
