Ideas/Section-10
I didn't begin my business with any type
of previous business knowledge. I had only worked in offices since
I was very young, but I knew absolutely nothing about running a
business.
The one person I give credit to for the success of my business --
and the one person I acknowledge in every single workshop and seminar
I do is the one who created me -- God.
I can't begin to tell you how many ideas he has put in my head.
He and I have had many prayer sessions together. I talk to him like
my friend and explain my business plans and ideas to him. Then (sometimes)
he will permit an idea or other point of view to enter my mind.
I analyze it and put it into action. And when I do -- the new idea
always works. I can't thank him enough!
But recently I was having a problem not totally putting the whole
situation in God's hands. We all do this. We pray to God about a
problem we are having, but when we get done praying -- we still
worry about the problem. It's so hard to totally turn the whole
problem over to him, forget it like it doesn't exist and be happy
inside that everything will work out.
Recently I did the same thing. I was woried that I had disobeyed
God over loaning money to a friend -- when I distinctly remember
something inside telling me not to. The guilt over my disobedience
was overwhelming. I didn't think that God would actually help get
me out of the mess that I created from my disobedience.
Then I called one of my prayer partners and discussed the matter
with him. And this is what he said that changed my life:
When you have been saved, you no longer are a sinner. You can commit
sins, but you are automatically forgiven of them because of the
blood of Jesus Christ. Guilt comes from Satan. Satan wants us to
feel guilty to keep us further away from God. There is nothing for
born-again Christians to feel guilty about. If we make a mistake,
it is because God allowed Satan to influence us in such a way to
teach us a lesson.
The incident of me loaning this so-called friend money (which I
had to take out a second mortage on the house to get for the loan)
really taught me a lesson when the friend didn't pay me back. The
lesson I learned is that God wanted me out of this person's life
immediately before disaster fell. If the friend would have paid
me back in payments -- we would have been tied together for many
years.
But God saw it necessary to get this person out of my life. And
it was later discovered that this person I thought was a friend
was really a thief (who shoplifted) and committed several crimes
of insurance fraud against Allstate Insurance Company. (In one incident,
this person actually staged a robbery. He shot his own television
set, slit the waterbed open and busted out the back window just
to get money.)
So friends -- we are talking about a REAL life criminal here. God
knew I might lose some money, but it was better than going to jail.
So why then did God even let me get involved with this person? Was
that my fault and disobedience?
My friend continued to explain (reading scripture from the book
of Romans): Every situation you experience (good or bad) makes you
into the person you are today. Perhaps somewhere down the road,
you might meet someone that has experienced the same thing you have.
You can then help that person, which causes a blessing to happen
in your own life.
But regardless of whatever reason God allowed me to be involved
in a situation like this -- I'll just know that one day it will
be revealed to me. And that's the key to gaining wisdom in business
and your life. Seek out and trust God with all your heart, your
soul and mind. Find out how to totally trust him (it will take some
effort) but he will even help you learn how to trust him. And once
you do -- you'll find every part of your life fun, exciting and
full of laughter and joy!
God is my favorite person. I place him above everything or everyone
in my life. He is the reason my heart continues beating. He is the
reason the blood continues to flow through my veins. He is the reason
the sun shines during the day and the moon shines at night. Think
about it!
